Buying and selling domain names is certainly a powerful and profitable business model. But the question is how profitable it really The reality is you need to spend time on the forums, build relationships and do a lot of outbound marketing, soliciting potential clients to buy the domains you’ve got. It’s feasible, but not altogether stimulating/interesting imho.

In a similar fashion, Page Howe also owned the domain name Guy(.com) and he sold that a few months later for $1 million. If he bought that for the average $12 for a domain name, he made an 83,333% profit buying and selling domain names.

Hottest comment thread I realize that you are not a PR domain flipper. The reason why I mentioned it in my first post is because there are some PR domain flippers out there and there is a demand for them, but from my experience the profit margins are often very thin.
Most domains won’t sell for nearly as high, but it’s possible that you can average between $2000 and $5000 for a profitable domain name once you learn how it all works. Personally I hate people that buy a domain just to sit on it and try and sell it for a profit…. saying that if someone takes the time to build a site on a domain that is genuinely interesting to people and is not just a spam site/spam content and then goes on to want to sell it I am not as bothered.
No sane person will sell a domain that is profitable, so in my opinion buying domains isn’t a very intelligent thing to do. You can visit Flippa.com and check out the sales pitch or seller’s note of most active domain names.

Step 10: Build a Solid Domain Portfolio. Instructional Design Now, if you have a portfolio of domains and you want to try to make some money from them while you hold them, you can park them. As I mentioned, parking them basically just means setting up a landing page with a bunch of ads, as well as information a user might be able to use to contact you if they’re interested in buying the domain. The price of the domain should be set at whatever you’d be willing to sell; typically more than you paid for the domain plus the ongoing costs of the domain, plus again the profits you’ve been making from it. After all, you don’t want to lose money on the deal.

By the time domainers are talking about a certain sector (vertical), it is already too late. Time to move on. Third, there are other potential investments with domain parking. You may have to have a robust web hosting package to support all of those domains, which can be expensive on its own. On top of that, you might want to be paying for a domain parking service, which will handle the setup, hosting, and ad management for you, but which costs money on its own as well. There’s also always the investment of time. Never underestimate the time it takes to manage domain parking, especially if you’re doing it on your own; that’s time you could be spending on your real projects instead.
Building a solid domain portfolio is not a piece of cake; it may take you several months or years to achieve this goal but it will definitely be worth it in the end. When you are in the fishing phase, look at the potential of the domain name. Another common strategy used by seasoned domain flippers is to get hold of some high profile domain names and sit on them until they soar in terms of value.

These sites are basically narrow niche sites with a dozen or so pages on them, and maybe one blog post per month, just to keep them active. They run affiliate links, generally, and can make you some money. This is, however, more time consuming and difficult to implement profitably. The idea is, of course, to make some affiliate money from the site while building up enough value that it’s worth selling.
Find Movie American Express It seems like a simple concept, but it’s a bit harder than I thought. You’re holding onto to something that was utterly worthless before on the idea that it may be worth something to someone tomorrow.
Age and Authority: Aged domains typically have greater domain authority due to their age and the potential they’ve had for gaining backlinks over the years. This is another reason why short domain names (that were probably registered 10+ years ago) are so expensive.
